Arrival

We arrived in Nadi, Fiji at 3:00 AM in June 2004 after an 11 hour flight. Following the advice we received from several guide books, we had no reservations. But it was exactly the way they said. Travel agents inside the airport were open even at that hour, and they found us a great rate at a nearby hotel, well below the published prices. We ended up at the Fiji Dominion International, which bills itself as "Fiji's friendliest hotel". They were indeed very friendly, we went back three times on our way between the various islands.

The pool. PJ really enjoyed swimming in it.

The open air dining area. We were in Fiji in the middle of winter, and it was quite comfortable, even at night.

From Nadi we traveled by plane to the island of Kadavu. We picked Kadavu (pronounced Kandavu) because the guidebook said that it was out of the way and not so touristy. And so it was...

This is the airplane we flew on. We were the only passengers that day, and flew on a six-seater.

Peter wasn't feeling well. He fell asleep during the flight.
