Albert's Sunrise Resort
(Formerly Albert's Place)

Part 1 of 2

We stayed a total of a week at Albert's Place (despite an official name change, everyone still refers to it as Albert's place). This was our introduction to Fijian hospitality. Everyone was so amazingly friendly!

The entrance, just off the beach. Lucy, one of the several neighborhood dogs chases crabs.

The interior of our bure. Stephanie nicknamed it "The Crab Shack" for all the crab holes around it.

Our bure, seen from the beach.

The beach in front of our bure ("bure" is Fijian for hut).

Relaxing on one of the several hammocks.

Sunset on our first evening.

Playing on the beach with Venus, a girl whose mother was co-owner of the resort.

PJ and Venus became good friends, and played together for many hours.

Watching the sun come up. We were still on California time, 5 hours ahead of Fiji. So we went to bed at 7:00 PM and got up at 4:00 AM (thanks to PJ) for the first week.

Daniel reading on a palm tree.

Peter collected many coconuts, and we opened and ate quite a few.

Picnic lunch at Goat Island. The island was a 10 minute boat ride from Albert's. We went one morning to enjoy the beach.

Peter and Venus digging a hole.

If you look closely, you will see Peter under the palm trees!

Chickens roamed the beach (and the rest of the grounds).
